Timesman: Duterte’s war threat!

Illinois, USA – The midterm May 13 elections for senators, congressmen, party-list groups, and local officials in the Philippines is just three days away.

Maybe many candidates are now having sleepless nights making sure that victory is on their side by hook or by crook, even if their opponents are relatives or friends.

Philippine election is always like that since time immemorial because to some politicians it is not blood that is thicker than water but the other way around.

And if latest surveys are to be believed the combined parties of President Duterte and daughter Inday Sara will rout the opposition’s “Otso Deretso” team of Vice President Leni Robredo in the final homestretch of the campaign, meaning the administration candidates will have control of the senate.

I do not believe in surveys as some of the people behind these are backers of the moneyed candidates themselves to condition the minds of the electorate that they are winning the election. These backers are only after the money and they might not even vote for the candidate who hired them.

I always believe in the sharing of powers in the national lawmaking body, never mind in the local setup as it only affects local governance. But in the senate, lawmakers should not be puppets of Malacanang in order to maintain the independence of the two branches in government. And this also includes the judiciary, the third branch.

I pickup my candidates from different party groups based on my principle and I’m always doing this every election. This election for the senatorial race, I have 3 from President Duterte’s PDP-Laban, 3 from Inday Sara’s “Hugpong ng Pagbabago,” 4 from Vice President Robredo’s “Otso Deretso,” and 2 from Independent candidates.

Kaya it is impossible that a “massacre” of the candidates of the opposition will happen if intelligent voters will only follow my strategy in selecting candidates.

Anyway, my newly adopted US President Donald Trump may be watching Philippine politics with enthusiasm and pickup some ideas that will assure him of his reelection bid this November. Good luck na lang sa lahat!

President Duterte, while in San Fernando City, Pampanga, declared war against Canada if it does not take out its trash from the Philippines which was dumped six years ago. The president gave Canada until end of April otherwise he will make good his threat.

“I want a boat prepared. I’ll give a warning to Canada maybe next week that they better pull that thing out or I will set sail, doon sa Canada. Ibuhos ko yung basura nila doon,” he said.

This is just a reminder, Mr. President. Your month of April deadline has lapsed as we are now in the second week of May and the basura is still with us. And also I never heard that our country is now at war with Canada. Your war generals seem to be suffering from amnesia as they didn’t advise you of this.

Anyway, I am not in a hurry for you to make good your threat of war against Canada. I have to notify my son, a nurse and Canadian national, to evacuate his family from Canada to my place now if a war is declared.

But in case war will happen between the Philippines and Canada as what President Duterte wants, for sure I will be on the side of my grandchildren fighting face-to-face in the battle field. You’re also a grandfather, and of course you will not also let your apos be threatened.

Anyway, alam kong nagbibiro ka lang. Ako ganoon rin. Hehe!

This is a big joke, but true.

Where in the world can an incumbent mayor who is running for reelection be challenged by her elder brother, a former mayor himself?

And while both brother and sister are attending an election forum organized by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, they fought while the father was just watching both of them. Only in Makati City, Philippines!
