Three arrested for stealing Telco batteries

THREE INDIVIDUALS were apprehended in a joint hot-pursuit operation by the Talomo and Toril police stations in Barangay Baliok, Toril District at around 11 p.m. on Thursday, May 16.

Talomo Police Station chief Major Rosario T Aguilar identified the suspects as alias Pipoy, 33, a chainsaw operator; alias Jojo, 31, self-employed; and alias Tagalog, 36, a tricycle driver, all residents of Davao City.

The incident stemmed from a theft report at a Telco site in Barangay Matina Pangi earlier that day. On May 16, at 3 a.m., a security guard discovered that the tower’s fence had been breached and the batteries were missing.

Following an investigation launched by the Talomo Police Station, authorities identified the individuals believed to be responsible for the theft. Officers discovered the stolen items concealed in the trunk of a car during a subsequent search of Pipoy’s residence.

Swift apprehension

Prompt action by the Talomo PNP, led by Major Aguilar, and the Toril Police Station led by Major Joenel Pederio led to the arrest of the suspects.

Police recovered the two Shojo batteries owned by DITO telco, with an estimated value of P100,000.

Aguilar commended the police force’s dedication to apprehending those with criminal intent within the community.

“This swift arrest demonstrates the redoubled efforts of our police force in safeguarding our society,” she stated.

“Furthermore, we express our gratitude to members of the community who provided valuable information that expedited the investigation,” she added.
