Taiwan Tourism to Bring Taiwan Closer to More Pinoys, Heads to Cebu and Davao to Hold Tourism Workshops

10 July 2024, Manila Philippines – Garnering another success from its latest endeavor of showcasing the wonders of Taiwan to more Filipinos in the recent Travel Madness Expo in SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, the International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Taiwan External Trade Development Council is set to expand its reach in the Philippines by setting its sail towards Davao and Cebu this coming July 16 and 17, respectively.

“We are very overwhelmed by the trust and support we’re receiving from the tourism community here in the Philippines that’s why we are continuously expanding our horizon by reaching more Filipinos in different parts of the archipelago. We hope to see Filipino Taiwan enthusiasts in the coming week as we visit the King and Queen Cities of the South, Davao, and Cebu,” shared the Taiwan Tourism Administration.

Showcasing Taiwan’s captivating beauty and charm, this event will present tourism products and services from the Alishan National Scenic Area Headquarters, China Airlines, EVA Air, STARLUX Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia.

With the latest extension granted by the Taiwanese government to Philippine passport holders, the visa-free privileges to the Philippines will now be until July 31, 2025, with up to 14-day visa-free stay. This privilege is a display of Taiwan’s efforts of the New Southbound Policy (NSP), which aims to build closer ties with the ten countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), six states in South Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. This also targets to leverage Taiwan’s cultural, educational, technological, agricultural, and economic assets to enhance Taiwan’s regional integration and promote the broader development of the Indo-Pacific region.

In 2023, there were more than 350,000 Filipino tourists visited Taiwan for leisure and recreation. In the first quarter of 2024, there were more than 116,000 Filipino tourists recorded who visited Taiwan. The tourism market’s strong recovery has shown a positive effect since the government of Taiwan granted Philippine nationals visa-free entry to Taiwan for up to 14 days starting from November 1. 2017.

The Taiwan Tourism Workshop in Davao and Cebu will also host special performances from the Hoyi Dance Crew to give participants a preview of what to expect in Taiwan.
