DCOTT,  operators association eye bus stopovers for commuters’ convenience

THE DAVAO City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) and the Southern Mindanao Bus Operators’ Association (SMBOA) are working out measures to ease the influx of passengers and establish stopovers in some key areas.

In an interview with Madayaw Davao, DCOTT Aisa Usop said most of the public’s concern involves the hassle of going to bus terminals when they live far from the area

“DCOTT and SMBOA are discussing plans to establish a win-win situation among our passengers. Ang mulo ‘sab sa atoang mga pasahero, parehas sa kung naa sila sa Toril going to Cotabato, kinahanglan pa ba nila muadto sa DCOTT terminal. Hasol jud sa pamasahe ilabi na’g naa’y mga karga,”  Usop said.

Aside from that, Usop added the terminal regularly faces a huge influx of passengers and the terminal’s gate entrance is currently in rehabilitation making it more challenging for commuters.

“The SMBOA proposed and requested help from us to implement solutions, such as making bus stopovers for those going south, going to Tagum, Butuan, or Calinan,” she said.

Usop stressed that the proposal might still need proper coordination with the city’s security cluster and other involved agencies, as DCOTT terminals are established to ensure commuter’s safety.

She also reminded bus operators and drivers that picking up passengers outside the terminal is strictly prohibited for security reasons and violators are penalized.
