- Authorities log 13 more non-index crimes in two weeks
THE DAVAO City Police Office recorded a 29% increase in crime incidents from Sept. 18 to Oct. 1.
But DCPO spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon clarified that the 13 more incidents they recorded in 14 days were mainly non-index crimes.
A non-index crime is defined as a violation of special laws and local ordinances such as reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property or physical injury, violations against women and children, illegal possession of firearms and drugs, illegal logging, lasciviousness, direct assault, and others crimes.
In the data, 45 non-index crimes were recorded on Sept. 18-24 while 55 were recorded on Sept. 25-Oct. 1.
Tuazon assured that authorities continue to enforce its security plan through the maximum deployment of personnel for police visibility in all strategic areas, regular beat, mobile, and bike patrols, checkpoints, and internal security operations.
Apart from this, police also have weekly Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations against wanted persons, illegal drugs, gambling, and loose firearms.
During the same period, the DCPO also recorded three incidents included in the eight focused crimes in the city. The eight focused crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, car theft, and motorcycle theft.
This included the robbery incident with homicide of former government employee Lilian Nieva, which is still being investigated by the Baliok Police Station.
Meanwhile, two cases of theft at PS6 Bunawan and PS13 Mandug police stations are already considered resolved following the arrest and the filing of a charge against the two suspects.
