Silverlens launches Lubi Art Project at Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort

SILVERLENS, together with Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation (TLDC), officially launched its “Lubi Art Project” on June 7, a collection of sculptures exhibited at Dusit Thani Plantation Resort for tourists to witness the works of environmental art curated by various artists of the project.

During the launching day, a tour was held in the morning for the guests, along with the participating artists, to visit the nine different art pieces in the resort. The artists shared their experiences on the creations, their artworks, and the inspirations that drew them to the Kopiat island.

Corinne de San Jose, one of the artists behind “417”, shared in a forum that she chose bamboo for her work as bamboo poles generate resonant sounds, since she wanted to make sound works.

The name of the sculpture is 417, as each bamboo is tuned to 417Hz, which is also related to her work on Solfeggio frequencies, a concept of sound healing.

“I had to tune each note manually because I wanted that idea of what if you were left on an island, then you have no resources and had to do everything manually. I wanted that story in my head,” she said during an artist talk on June 7.

The featured artworks were created from 2018 to 2025, and were constructed from reused materials found on the island with the help of the Davao Gulf Divers and the Barangay Pindasan Women’s Group.

These are Everywhere There You Are, 417, recruit (no.3), Builder, Earth Mound, Monument, How long after sunset unit it gets dark?, Lesser Speeds, and Structure for Light Reading.
