However, CBCP executive secretary Fr. Jerome Seciliano was quick to say that although there are cases of clergy sexual abuse here — the “situation is NOT as PREVALENT as compared to other countries.” well, I think Fr. Seciliano is either lying or just plain DUMB. Just the other day, the bishop of Tagum excommunicated 26 priests and investigated 18 others for sexual misconducts.

131 congressmen support the resumption of peace talks between the government and the CPP-NDF and Jose Ma. Sison now exiled in Holland or living the GOOD life while the provincial NPAs are barely surviving!). Forget Sison — even the local NPAs do not listen to him. It’s more productive to adopt Davao City PEACE 911 which focuses on building — and sustaining — peace barangay-by-barangay, district-by district as in Paquibato.

I think there’s NO PROBLEM. Just in Juna Subdivision alone, they own 2 big mansions one on 7000 sq. mtr. lot. They also own practically all the homes around these — because the owners were intimated by the presence of many gun-toting goons. They also own an entire floor of condos near SM Ecoland, many other houses in D.C. subdivisions. They also own many properties in Maguindanao.

A judgment — after 10 long years but I believe that “SLOW justice is NO justice”. Besides, the guilty will just appeal to the Court of Appeals (another 10 years!) their lawyers are HAPPILY RICHER while they rot in jail. So, what are the lessons from this snail-paced justice system? Could they have had 2 trails — one for the LEADERS (Ampatuans) and another for their FOLLOWERS. Note that most of those acquitted were “FOLLOWERS”, can TECHNOLOGY help — live video during witness testimonies and then cross-examinations. Can we add more judges — and prosecutors — to avoid trial delays by SUBSTITUTING absentees? Maybe my lawyer/judge friends can help answer these questions.
