Again we missed this page yesterday.
THANKS and no thanks to post-Christmas visitors who came unannounced to our house, mostly relatives and friends. Some three of them bear season’s gifts, and others seek Christmas presents from the family. We did not really mind because we have been used to it for the last many Christmases. But what we were somehow piqued at was that we were deprived of the time to do our passion which is to write our opinion on certain social and political issues.
Anyhow that is what Christmas is all about – visits to families and relatives, as well as close friends. It is time to rekindle relationships. And that is exactly what happened to us during the past few days. But it also afforded us the opportunity to know we have relatives from as far as Davao Oriental, Bukidnon, and even in Davao Occidental. We met some of them on certain occasions without knowing our ties. And it was only this Holiday season that they were aware of us being their relative. Thus, they endeavored to pay us a visit especially when they read our article sharing the misfortune that hit our woman in the house early last November.
We cannot thank them enough for the time they gave in visiting us. We are hoping that we can reciprocate in due time.

We have noted that vlogger-trolls from both sides of the political fence appear to have no break during the Holiday season. They had no let-up in their efforts to destroy their intended target political personalities.
We have no doubt they are so enamored with that line in a song titled “If” and we quote, “If a picture paints a thousand words…” Yes, the highly partisan hacks cum vloggers continued using every available word they can think of in their efforts to “paint” their target politicians to what their “masters” want them seen by the people. And they did this without any regard for the season that is supposed to be devoted to love and understanding, of forgetting misunderstanding and forgiving those who have caused one to get hurt.
In fact, what happened during this Christmas season was the incessant stoking of hatred in the hearts and minds of those who are currently at odds politically with each other. And we do not expect that the level of trash-throwing by the partisan trolls at this time will subside. In fact, with barely five months into the mid-term elections, the bashing and name-calling by the vloggers from either side are expected to become even more harsh and stingy.
Hence, this time the vlogger-trolls will be using all available nasty words to effectively paint the political adversaries appear undesirable to the electorate. And they’ll certainly be all out to have their patrons’ image appear that of the immaculate individuals worthy of the positions they are running for.

Now who is saying that the local government of Davao City and the City’s Police Office are not well as far as their relationship with each other is concerned?
This is the common notion that pervaded the minds of many Davaoenos since the incident of the frequent changes of leadership in the Davao City Police Office (DCPO). This was shortly before the massive search for the top Pastor of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Church Rev. Apollo C. Quiboloy.
Yes, the current DCPO Director Col. Hansel Marantan in fact had a hard time convincing City Mayor Sebastian Duterte that he is not assigned in the city for anything else but to ensure that the local police will function as expected of the law enforcers.
It was so that when Colonel Marantan called on the Office of the City Mayor he was given some kind of suspicious, though professional welcome.
But now, several months after the Quiboloy fiasco, the local officials as well as the people of Davao City seem confidently at ease with the prevailing peace and order condition.
And this time, less than a week before the end of the current year, the City government has manifested a seemingly unexpected generosity to the police. It has augmented its emergency response capability by providing the DCPO with multi-million pesos worth of emergency response vehicles for the police.
Among the donated vehicles are five (5) Hino six-wheeler troop carriers, four (4) Isuzu 4×4 disaster vehicles, and four (4) fiber-reinforced plastic boats which will be used in times of disasters and calamities.
In a statement, the DCPO said the city’s donation of the vehicles reflects the local government’s steadfast commitment to bolstering the operational readiness of local agencies such as the police in times when immediate response to calamities is needed.
By the way, the vehicles were purchased using the Local Risk Reduction and Management Fund for 2024.
While earlier we said that the purchase could be in millions of pesos, we have to be honest that we have no idea, not even an iota, as to how much exactly all the vehicles cost.
We are certain, however, that some entities are having a very happy yearend. Among these entities are the suppliers of the Hino 6-wheeler trucks, the dealer of the 4×4 Isuzu disaster vehicles, the distributor of the fiber-reinforced plastic boat, and of course the people who made the deal happen.
Indeed, for those lucky entities what a “blessed” and “abundant” way of closing 2024 and ushering in of 2025.
