THE CITY government will start enforcing the mandatory QR code upon entering offices and establishments to fasten contact tracing.
“By November, mahimo na ng mandatory tanan sa Davao City [ang QR Code],” the mayor said on Friday during the city-operated radio. “Mao ni siya ang usa sa mga moves nato para mapaspas nato ang atoang contact tracing,” she added.
She said the success of the QR code system will be dependent on the support of the private sector. They are the ones tasked to implement the new system, which will store 14-day-worth of data of the person entering their establishments.
Duterte urged the public to avoid public gatherings to avoid exposure to COVID-19.
“They should remember and understand that you can get infected with the virus, or it quickly spreads where people gather,” she said, adding that if there is a convergence of people, there is a transmission.
Also, Duterte shared her opinion about maintaining the city’s quarantine status as modified general community quarantine. She said it is not viable to open and close the economy because of the cases.
“It is disruptive for the people and business if you open the city and then closed it down again,” she said. “For me, it should be MGCQ and the form of community quarantine should be managed within that MGCQ.”
However, Duterte said that regardless of her personal opinion, they will still follow the recommendation from the Inter-Agency Task Force.
