PSC disinfects offices as staff test positive

THE PHILIPPINE Sports Commission announced Tuesday that its two facilities, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and Philsports Complex in Pasig will be on lockdown starting Wednesday, until further notice.

This announcement was released as a staff tested positive, four days after the swab test was done.

The PSC conducted disinfection activities Wednesday, the start of the facility lockdown. Mike Asuncion of the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) and BF Merren Pharmaceuticals, learning of the situation, sent disinfection chemicals to be used for the PSC main building in Manila and the Philsports administrative offices and dormitories.

“We are thankful because they readily helped. We wanted to make sure that we do proper disinfection of the offices,” said PSC Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy.

The PSC also thanked the MILO Philippines and Pocari Sweat for its continued support to the national athletes, coaches, and PSC frontline workers, helping them to stay positive, active, and fit during COVID-19.

Iroy also acknowledged the efforts of the NSAs including the Philippine Swimming Inc. (PSI), Philippine Table Tennis Federation (PTTF), Pilipinas Sepak Takraw Association Inc, among others, who extended support to the agency by donating face masks, face shields, and other supplies, to help the agency’s frontliners and stranded athletes and coaches.

“Our NSAs have been very helpful this pandemic. We all just want to lift each other and help each other get through this pandemic” said Iroy. PR
