Police: protesters mark Martial Law amid COVID

MORE OR less 20 activists staged a rally near STI Acacia along J.P. Laurel Avenue at 10:25 a.m. on Monday to mark the anniversary of Martial Law.

But as usual, the Davao City Police Office prepared at least 50 chairs along Roxas Avenue near freedom park.

Capt. Rosario Aguilar, the DCPO spokesperson, said there was a rally but after five minutes they walked away.

“The name of the group was Alliance of Concerned Teachers,” Rosario said. “They were there for only five minutes.”

In a separate interview, Lt. Rizalito Clapiz, the intelligence officer of the San Pedro Police Station, said the protesters did not use the area they prepared to make sure that physical distancing is enforced.
