Police buy-busts net 3 high-value drug suspects

FOUR HIGH-VALUE individuals were arrested in two buy-bust operations in Sasa and Panacan on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), identified two of the suspects as Mirasol Nerja Cubay, 41,  married, housekeeper, and Elly John Tulisana Saban, 35, motorcycle driver, who lives in Purok 3, Kinawitnon, Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal. 

Members of the Sasa Police Station Drug Enforcement Team arrested the two in an entrapment operation in Cabayugan 1,  in front of Maewess Wharf, Barangay Sasa, Buhangin District. 

The operative allegedly bought a sachet of suspected shabu weighing 4.62 grams in exchange for marked money amounting to P16,500 from the suspects. The total drugs confiscated from them totaled 9.41 grams with an estimated value of P150,560.

Tuazon said Cubay was considered the top street-level drug suspect in the city.

In a separate buy-bust operation, two high-value individuals were also arrested at DBCOM Depot, Km. 14, Barangay Panacan.

Police identified them as Manzoor Abdul Laimot and Umbra Laimot Labay, the top 4 and top 5 city-level drug suspects.

They were arrested after they handed over a sachet of suspected shabu weighing 1.09 grams to the poseur-buyer. The arresting officers also confiscated more shabu weighing 1.03 grams and 1.06 grams from them.

All the drugs have an estimated weight of 3.18 grams and an estimated value of P50,880.

The suspects are now in the custody of the Sasa Police Station and will face a charge of violation of Republic Act  9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
