PLDT Home, the country’s leading broadband provider, celebrated the vibrant Kadayawan Festival in Davao City with a special media event with Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Anne Manalo. The event, held last August 17, Saturday, at Rekado Davao, formally announced Manalo as PLDT Home’s newest brand ambassador and unveiled their latest fiber plan, timed perfectly for the festivities.
“PLDT has been a constant companion throughout my Miss Universe journey,” shared Manalo, a 24-year-old tourism management graduate. “Being away from my family while traveling across the country to promote our advocacies, PLDT has allowed me to stay connected with them. This marked Manalo’s first official introduction as PLDT Home’s brand ambassador to the media, as confirmed by PLDT Davao Zone Head Melvin Lacuna. He emphasized the significance of Davao to PLDT, stating, “Davao holds a special place in our history”.
PLDT Smart Area Development Manager Hazel Nabatar shared further that PLDT has been serving the city since September 1938. Their inaugural telephone system in Davao witnessed the first phone call connecting Manila and Davao, considered a historic moment for communication in the Philippines.

The brand proudly awarded the “Hiyas ng PLDT” title to Jane Rose Miones, the Hiyas sa Kalambuan winner representing the Bagobo-Klata tribe in the “Hiyas ng Kadayawan” competition.
