Phase 2 of Agdao market project already 92.3% complete – official

THE Davao City Economic Enterprise is already preparing the 494 vendors for the possible turnover of the Agdao Farmers’ Market, as phase 2 of the project is already 92.3 percent complete.

Officer-in-charge Maximo P. Macalipes Jr. said they only await the go-signal from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the final turnover date.

Sa among discussion, murag naa pay kinahanglan nga i-provide nga equipment sa atong Agdao public market, that is why dili pa siya ma turn over (Based on our discussions, there are still equipment that need to be provided to the Agdao public market, that is why there is no turn over yet),” he said.

“We conducted orientation for the renewal of the lease contract, unsa tong mga terms and conditions para if ever ma-turn over ang Agdao Farmers’ Market ready na ang atong mga vendors sa ilahang mga respective nga stall (We conducted orientation on the renewal of lease contracts, the terms and conditions so that if ever the Agdao Farmer’s Market will be turned over, the vendors will be ready to occupy their respective stalls),” Macalipes said.

The market has 80 stalls for the meat section; 126 stalls for the fish section, 20 stalls for dressed chicken; nine stalls for ice storage, and 19 stalls for commercial spaces on the ground floor alone.

On the second floor, there are 134 stalls and 33 stalls for the dry goods section. The third floor is where miscellaneous businesses, such as clinics, boutiques, or open spaces are located and has a total of 38 stalls and the two function halls.

Macalipes said that the bulk of the income generated by the City Economic Enterprises (CEE) comes from the eight markets of the city. Since January, the income from markets has already reached 62 percent of the Php 112,625,000 target for the year. The overall target of CEE for this year is Php 197,725,000.

He added that the city, through its LGU Special fund, has allotted a budget for improving the Bankerohan Public Market and the Toril Public Market, now already 93 percent completed. The improvement of other markets is also in the pipeline.

Ang CEE nagapaningkamot gyud nga makakita ta og sources of revenue para matabangan nato ang mga current thrusts and programs sa siyudad sa Davao, especially ang social services nga program ni Mayor Baste (CEE is doing its best to find revenue sources to help the current thrust and programs of Davao City, especially the social services program of Mayor Baste Duterte),” Macalipes said.
