RAIN SHOWERS will persist in the region and can still be felt until Thursday, Jan. 18, an official of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in Davao said.
However, the latest forecast shows that weather conditions will improve in the next two days.
“Dili na pareha gahapon ug karon nga tuloy-tuloy jud walay undang, naa nay improvement pero expect gihapon ta nga naay pag-ulan,” Pagasa Davao chief meteorologist Engr. Lita Vinalay said during the Davao City Disaster Radio’s episode of “Serbisyo Ligal” on Jan. 16.
Vinalay said rains are due to the shearline weather condition affecting northern and eastern sections of Mindanao. A shearline is a convergence of cold and warm winds that trigger rains.
Pagasa weather specialist Rhea Torres, during the 4 a.m. weather forecast on Jan. 16, said some parts of Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms for the rest of the day.
The weather outlook in Metro Davao from Wednesday to Friday will have improved weather conditions with temperatures from 25°C to 33°C.
Nevertheless, Pagasa has not observed any low-pressure area developing inside and outside the Philippine’s area of responsibility. The bureau also cautioned motorists and residents against possible landslides and flashfloods caused by the inclement weather.
