P100,000 worth of shabu seized from 2 men at checkpoint

AUTHORITIES seized more than P100,000 worth of shabu from two individuals passing through the Barangay Sirawan checkpoint in Toril District at 2:29 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18.

Captain John Louie Dema-ala, the spokesperson of the Task Force Davao, identified the suspects as Johannes E Evangelista, married, a resident of Purok 5, Manuel Guianga, Tugbok, and Steve A Castroverde, 29, single, a resident of Recodo, Zamboanga City.

Both were on board a black Toyota Fortuner with plate number NCH 9692 heading toward the city.

Intercepted from their possession was suspected shabu weighing 8.5 grams with an estimated street value of P136,000 and drug paraphernalia. 

Col Darren Comia, Task Force Davao commander, commended the relentless effort of security personnel at the checkpoints for strictly screening all individuals entering the city.

Meanwhile, the suspects and the evidence are now under the custody of Toril Police Station, as they face a case for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
