DAVAO CITY — Members of the Davao–South Regional Football Association (DRFA) on Saturday elected businessman Ernesto “Ernie” Ortonio Jr. of the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr.. Central Elementary School (KTMSCES) Football Club as their new President.
Ortonio will serve as DRFA president from 2024 to 2028.
Ortonio is currently the president of the PNX UDENNA Insurance Brokers Inc. In his younger years, he played for the Paglaum Team of Bacolod and Western Visayas team as a goalkeeper.
The DRFA election was held at the Happy Home Cafe and Diner and attended by observers from the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) headed by Aquilino Pastoral III, PFF senior administrative manager, and Atty. Homer Alinsug, head of the PFF legal department, who both flew in from Manila to attend the election.
The DRFA has 24 legitimate Congress members. A total of 23 members attended the election, but only 22 were allowed to cast their votes as one representative had a problem with his letter authorizing his participation.
Present from different club teams were Mr. Raph Pehid of the AL Navarro National High School FC; Carlos Labadora of the Bansalan Football Club; Joyce Rendon of the Black Knights Football Club; Christian Ea of the Crocs Football Club; Analou Ingles of the D’Davao Survivors Football Club; Rex Rodriguez of the Davao Hyenas Football Club; Murphy Jake Somosot of the Davao Grassroots Champions League Football Club; Alex Adolfo of the DRFA Coaches Association; Danny Boy Fernandez of the DRFA Referees’ Association; Prof. Ramon Beleno III of the First Companions Football Club; Paul Ariel Elises of the Green Strikers Football Club; Rachelle delos Reyes of the Lady Knights Football Club; Janver Clyde Magaway of the Oi Rogers Football Club; Ramonito Carreon of the PCT-Medvil Football Club; Engr. Gerry Zanoria of the PTA Boys Football Club; Bion Hao of the Rovers Football Club Davao; Marey Queen Escalante of the RMC Football Club; Merlo Albano of the Sakya Football Club; Roxan Colina of the SOS Children’s Village Football Club; David Dwight Peñano of the University of Mindanao Football Club and Erwin Protacio of the UP Mindanao Football Club.
Albert Ryan Lim, PFF football development officer for Mindanao, was also present during the election.
