NephroPlus redefines possibilities for patients with the first-ever Philippines Dialysis Olympiad

MANILA, Philippines – NephroPlus, the leading provider of dialysis services in the country, successfully organized the inaugural Philippines Dialysis Olympiad, the first-ever Olympic-style event dedicated to dialysis patients, showcasing the incredible resilience, strength, and determination of individuals undergoing dialysis treatment.

The landmark event took place at Marikina Sports Center on March 9, 2025, and saw patients from across the nation competing in various sports and games, emphasizing that health challenges do not define a person’s potential.

Prominent athletes Alyssa Valdez, a celebrated volleyball player, and Nesthy Petecio, an Olympic boxing medalist, graced the event. Their presence highlighted the unbreakable spirit shared by athletes and dialysis patients alike in overcoming adversity.

Alyssa Valdez shared her personal message of encouragement to the participants, saying, “Your strength and perseverance inspire us all. This event is a testament to the power of never giving up, no matter what challenges life throws our way.”

Nesthy Petecio, who recently won a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics and a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, also expressed her admiration for the participants.

“Being an athlete is all about overcoming obstacles, and today, you are all champions. It is an honor to be here to witness this incredible celebration of determination and spirit.”

Philippines Dialysis Olympiad featured a variety of adaptive sports, including basketball, badminton, and chess, designed to provide a platform for dialysis patients not only to compete but also to bond and share experiences. The event served as a reminder that dialysis patients, though facing unique health challenges, can have extraordinary achievements when supported by their communities and healthcare providers.

Rohit Singh, CEO of NephroPlus International Business, stated, “Many people undergoing dialysis often believe they cannot lead normal lives or engage in activities that healthy individuals can. Through the Dialysis Olympiad, we aim to challenge this perception and demonstrate that those on dialysis can achieve more! Sports are a powerful enabler, helping to break barriers and empowering individuals to live beyond their limitations. We are pleased to host the Philippines’ first Dialysis Olympiad.”

Philippines Dialysis Olympiad 2025 received widespread support from patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and spectators who came together to cheer on the participants. The event marked a new chapter in promoting inclusivity in sports and health, and it is set to become a once-in-two-year celebration.
