THE DAVAO CITY Library and Information Center (DCLIC) Mobile Library has rolled out its services in 15 schools in January 2025 to continue providing book-reading activities and educational resources to schoolchildren.
DCLIC Mobile Library Services and Disaster Education head Arniel Enoc shared that the mobile services are meant to fill the gap since the identified schools lacked learning materials.
In 2024, the mobile library visited 88 public schools, 38 day-care centers, nine private schools, and six facilities (drug rehabilitation center, city jail, and others).
He added that the schools can avail of their services via email (dcl@davaocity.gov.ph) aside from going to the city library office.
DCLIC currently has three mobile library buses. The third bus can hold around 2,000 books, arts and crafts supplies, board games, and educational films. For now, there are no plans yet to increase the number of buses.
The mobile library buses aim to provide children with access to books and engage them with reading activities, improve their readership, and prioritize those who are residing in rural areas. The children were treated to mascots, computer literacy training, film viewing, and disaster preparedness and awareness orientation.
