Missing fisherman rescued in Davao Oriental 

LOCAL residents and the Coast Guard Substation in Lupon, Davao Oriental successfully rescued a missing fisherman who had been adrift for several hours.

The fisherman from Barangay Talisay in San Isidro, Davao Oriental was reported missing on Dec. 10, 2024.

Reportedly, he encountered engine trouble while fishing in the Davao Gulf and was swept away by the strong current.

Local fishermen from the Island Garden City of Samal spotted the fisherman and towed his motor banca to a safer location. 

After several days, the fishermen brought him closer to his hometown, where he was safely reunited with his family on Dec. 11, 2024.

The Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) commended the efforts of the local fishermen who played a crucial role in rescuing the fisherman. The agency also reminded the fisherfolks to prioritize safety when venturing out to sea.
