- Two high-value targets yield illegal drugs in sting operation
TWO REGIONAL and city-level targets were handcuffed and P700,000 worth of illegal drugs seized following a buy-bust in Talisay Street, Capili Subdivision, Barangay Baliok, Toril District at 8:18 p.m. on Nov. 2.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, the spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office, said alias Badi, 37, single, driver (top three regional level), and alias John Michael, 24, driver, (top one city level) were arrested along with two others.
The two other suspects were Gino, 29, mechanic, and Nikola Kayeen, 37, caregiver. All are residents of Purok 6, Center Beach, Barangay Talomo Proper.
Police confiscated approximately P670,000 worth of shabu and the suspected cocaine, with an estimated value of P37,000.
According to the report, the Sasa Police Station Drug Enforcement Team, led by Major Marcille Manzano, acting commander, conducted a joint buy-bust operation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and other police units.
The suspects were arrested when they handed the drugs to a police undercover in exchange for the P15,000 marked money. A further search yielded two large sachets of shabu, one self-sealing transparent plastic sachet containing a white powder substance suspected to be cocaine, buy-bust money, a digital weighing scale, and other drug paraphernalia.
The suspects are now in custody and their case for violation of sections 5, 13, 14, and 15 of R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed with the City Prosecutor’s Office through inquest procedures.
