Metaverse Filipino Worker redefines work in digital age

THE YIELD Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas introduced the Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW) in a caravan on Saturday, April 5, aiming to redefine working in the digital space.

MFW Caravan, previously known as YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip, is a movement designed to equip Filipinos with the skills they need to thrive in the digital economy through Web3, AI, and blockchain.

During the caravan on Saturday, YGG Pilipinas community manager Spraky said the initiative is to provide an avenue for Filipinos to build careers in the metaverse and stay in the country while having a high-paying job.

“Before more on gamers yung tina-tap namin but now more on general na, may mga school partners, DICT, barangays, kasi gusto namin mapakita talaga ano bang opportunities ang meron dito sa Web 3, sa crypto,” he added.

Metaversity, the educational platform of YGG, offers crash courses to help learners in marketing, productivity, and skills that open up opportunities in Web3 gaming, AI, and other emerging tech fields.

Learners who have completed the crash courses can sign up for an exclusive 8-week cohort-based program with four tracks, such as community, marketing, gaming, and content creation.

To date, Metaversity has produced more than 350 graduates.

Beyond gaming, YGG involves moms in the metaverse, highlighting the digital platforms for flexible careers for mothers to earn in the comfort of their homes.

Julie, one of the mom influencers, said leveraging digital space for work not only empowers mothers to adapt to the digital age but to spend more time with their children while earning.

Hindi lang limited ang paglalaro sa mga bata, pwede pala sa moms, naglalaro kami at the same time we earn. Hindi lang kasi yan paglalaro, you create bonding with your children,” he added.

YGG Pilipinas is also in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications Technology in terms of reaching out to the community level to promote digital inclusion and advance ICT skills.

In her message, DICT XI regional director Evamay C. Dela Rosa said the caravan is a movement that champions innovation, opportunity, and empowerment for every Filipino in the digital age.

“We know that in today’s evolving world, technology connects us to boundless opportunities, and the MFW embodies this transformation, redefining work, learn and play and grow not only locally but also global scale,” she stressed.

The four-month nationwide roadshow, which officially kicked off on Saturday at Ayala Malls Abreeza, will have stops in various cities, including Cagayan de Oro on May 4, Iloilo on June 7, Bicol on June 28, Palawan on July 1,9 and Manila on Aug. 2.

Each stop will feature career workshops, Web3 game demos, tournaments, and interactive quests, including AI-powered bounties as part of YGG’s Future of Work program.
