Mayor: Lifting of ECQ after May 15 not certain

The city government will wait for the announcement of the Interagency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases on whether to extend the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) or modify it after May 15.

Meanwhile, the City Information Office on Thursday urged Dabawenyos to refrain from sharing a social media posts claiming the city was included in the list of local government units that are to extend the period of ECQ.

In her program over the city government-operated Davao City Disaster Radio, Maria May Benedicto urged the puMayor Sara Duterte said yesterday that there is no certainty whether the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will be lifted after May 15 as the call belongs to the Interagency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. 

In an interview over Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday, Duterte said she will just have to wait for the formal order from the IATF.

“Dili pata kahatag ug definite na tubag ana (on the issue of whether the protocols will be downgraded from ECQ to general community quarantine),” she added.

In a related development, the GMA News reported that Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the city maybe included in the list of the local government units whose ECQ maybe extended after May 15.The extension, Año said, would depend on whether tblic to stop believing about the circulating report on social media which claimed that the city was among the areas that are to extend the ECQ either until May 25 or May 30.
