After more than three years of phased construction, the modern and digital-ready Mati City E-Library—strategically located on Quezon Street, right across from the Post Office building—is now on the brink of completion, poised to transform the city’s academic and digital landscape.
Launched in 2022, the project’s first phase was funded with ₱15 million sourced from the fourth tranche of the City Government of Mati’s Omnibus Term Loan with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP). Phase 2, backed by an additional ₱10 million from the loan’s fifth tranche, has now been completed, with only final finishing touches underway.
This two-storey e-library was designed as a free, accessible, and tech-equipped facility, envisioned to serve the academic and digital needs of all Matinians.
The ground floor features an information counter, Computer Laboratory Room 1, an exhibit area, an activity area, a seminar and workshop space, and two comfort rooms. The second floor includes a conference room, Computer Laboratory Room 2, a librarian’s area, and a dedicated reading space—designed to provide a quiet and conducive environment for students, researchers, and readers alike.
The facility is anticipated to be formally inaugurated and opened to the public in the coming months or early next year, signaling a major leap forward for the city’s digital and academic resources.
Spearheaded under the leadership of City Mayor Michelle Rabat, this e-library project reflects Mati City’s strong commitment to advancing access to knowledge, digital literacy, and lifelong learning for all its residents.
The Mati City E-Library stands as a landmark achievement for the city, setting the stage for Mati to emerge as a hub of innovation and e-learning not only for its residents but for the entire province of Davao Oriental.
