City to resume vaccination of Priority A-4 on July 19

THE CITY government will resume vaccination against COVID-19 of the priority A-4 individuals, the so-called essential workers including its own, on July 19, a top city official said.

Lemuel Ortonio, head of the Human Resource Management Office, said in a report of the City Information Office that about 1,500 of its essential workers have been provided with the first shots of the vaccines on July 8 and 9 at the Almendras gym.

Ortonio said that the vaccines used for the employees were part of the allocation for the city government as he recognized the help of the City Health Office (CHO), Covid vaccination cluster, City Economic Enterprise, Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), and the cooperation of the other department administrative officers for success of the activities.

As of July  8, the city government provided first doses of the vaccines to 44,279 essential workers, part of the 267,973 individuals who received the first shots.

The city government is targeting to vaccinate 1.2 million of city residents, including those transients who are in the city during the vaccination program.

Last week, Mayor Sara Duterte said the city government is accelerating the vaccination program to stifle the spread of the virus.

However, she explained that the pace of the vaccination program will still depend on the availability of the vaccines.
