MEMBERS of the indigenous communities in Marilog are set to get vaccinated against COVID-19 today.
Mayor Sara Duterte said there are challenges in providing vaccines to the indigenous communities and that these must be overcome for the city to be able to achieve herd immunity before the end of the year.
“Dunay undercurrents of kahadlok ang mga tawo kani sa dili pag sinabtanay sa mga tribo, problema sa mga yuta diha sa Marilog involved myembro sa tribo,” she said as the vaccine cluster of the city government earlier reported that some members of the villages have expressed hesitance in getting vaccinated.
The city government has sought the help of the Public Safety Security Command Center to help in ensuring that the vaccination program in the hinterlands is done smoothly.
The mayor said it is fortunate that the villagers in Marilog have agreed to get vaccinated and that those in the nearby Paquibato District soon get their shots so that more members of the indigenous communities are vaccinated.
“Atoang strategy gyud karon (Our strategy now) is making the vaccines mobile, pagpangita gyud sa mga tawo nga duna pay hesitancy sa pagpabakuna (looking for those who are still hesitant to get vaccinated). Abri naman ang mga vaccination centers. Naa gihapon sa data ang portion sa mga tawo nga dili magpabakuna. Kining mga tawo dili muadto og vaccination center,” she said.
