Amidst the pandemic, the Japan Foundation, Manila continues to showcase Japanese life and culture as it migrates the highly-anticipated Japanese Film Festival to the online platform from November 20 to 29.
“These carefully selected films will allow us to take intimate glimpses into new worlds, experience things, see places and gain new perspectives,” JFM Director Suzuki Tsutomu said during the virtual press conference last November 11.
According to Tsutomu, online has now become the platform for movies and the “internet as its venue for instant exchange of information and culture.”
“The JFF Plus will showcase very relatable films especially to Filipino and Asian audiences. Anyone with a smart TV, PC, or mobile phones can safely view the films at the comfort of their homes,” he added.
The digital edition of this year’s festival will screen 28 carefully curated Japanese movies of different genres. It will open with the Hanabusa Tsutomo film ” Project Dreams – How to Build Mazinger Z’s Hangar”, which will also have an SM Cinema Drive-In premier at the SM Mall of Asia.

The JFF Plus: Online Festival is a collaborative project of the Japan Foundation Asian Center in partnership with JT International (Philippines), the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, and SM Cinema.
