IN CELEBRATION of the 33rd Anniversary of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, the Iligan City Jail-Male Dormitory (ICJMD) organized a meaningful initiative to aid families impacted by incarceration.
On July 24, JCI Carlo F. Obrique, the warden of the city jail, supervised a special read-along session and distributed school-opening starter kits to children of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) housed in ICJMD. These kits included essential school supplies, aiming to alleviate financial strain on families as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
“This initiative is our way of supporting the families of our clients as they navigate the challenges at the start of the school year in the absence of their breadwinner,” noted JCI Obrique, highlighting the initiative’s importance.
The effort specifically focused on children from the most vulnerable PDL families, ensuring they have the necessary tools to continue their education despite difficult circumstances.
Families within the facility expressed gratitude for the distribution, emphasizing the positive impact of such gestures on community welfare.
JCI Obrique and his team affirmed their dedication to ongoing support for the educational needs of children affected by incarceration, reinforcing the Bureau’s commitment to rehabilitation and community integration among PDLs and their families.
