Full alert | Cops, soldiers raise alert status for PRRD Sona

Authorities in this city are in full alert today to ensure that President Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown is peaceful and secured during his third State of the Nation Address (Sona) today at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum told TIMES yesterday that, as usual, they will be maximizing security deployment in all strategic places.

Tagum said traffic laws will also be strictly implemented.

Col. Nolasco Mempin, the Task Force Davao commander, said they will intensify their checkpoint operations.

“Our checkpoint will be augmented by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to ensure that vehicles entering Davao have proper documents,” Mempin said.

He said all government security forces are on red alert.

The House of Representatives is expecting today about 3,000 guests, including foreign and local dignitaries, to grace the occasion.

In his SONA today, the President is expected to sign the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is deploying more than 7,000 policemen today to ensure the safety and security within the vicinity of Batasang Pambansa.
