Fitness gym releases statement on airport branch wall collapse

ULTRADYNAMIC Fitness Gym (UD Fitness Corp)  addressed the incident that occurred at its Davao airport branch at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2025.

In a statement, Engr. Charlemagne Umpad, owner of UD Fitness Corp, said, “During heavy rainfall, soil erosion near the construction site of the Sta. Lucia Property resulted in the collapse of one of the walls at our ultradynamic fitness gym airport branch.

“Thankfully, there were no casualties. No clients were present at the time, and our staff on duty – Branch Head Earl Pasamba, Receptionist Oliver Solis, and Custodian Jay Garcia – were unharmed,” she said.

“As a Civil Engineer, my initial assessment suggests that the heavy rain, combined with ongoing construction activities next door, impacted the area’s drainage and stability, contributing to the collapse.

“We are committed to resolving this situation promptly and efficiently. We appreciate our clients’ understanding during this time and will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience and support.”

Moreover, UD Fitness Corp. will continue to investigate the cause of the incident with the help of the authorities. The company also committed to repair the damage and reopen the gym as soon as possible.
