FAMILY members of former President Rodrigo Duterte are scheduled to visit him in The Hague on his upcoming birthday on March 28.
Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed that Cielito “Honeylet” Avanceña and her sister, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, will be among those making the trip.
“I told them, ‘Just let me know what plans you have, what you want to do,’ because my sister Veronica and her mother Cielito are scheduled to visit on the 28th,” Vice President Duterte stated. “So I will be free that day, whatever they want to do.”
Regarding her mother’s [Zimmerman] travel dates, she added, “I don’t recall if it’s the 28th or 29th.”
Vice President Duterte explained that the visit is being arranged around Cielito and Veronica’s schedules.
“Because Cielito has limited time to stay here due to business obligations, she needs to attend to her livelihood. And Veronica is studying, so she needs to return home; she cannot be absent for long. Their time is limited,” she said.
“So, all the time that can be given to them was given to them. Even the birthday, the schedule, the time to go inside, was given to them,” she added.
When asked about her own schedule, Vice President Duterte said, “I have no schedule to visit him on Friday; we gave that to them. Because two visits a day are allowed, one lawyer visit and one family visit.”
“I gave all the schedules to Cielito and Veronica, and we all agreed that that’s what we will do. It’s all theirs while they are here because their time is limited compared to mine,” she explained.
“It’s okay because we siblings have no problems. It’s our mothers who have the problems,” she said with a smile.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Martin Romualdez has approved the travel clearance for Davao City First District Representative Paolo Duterte, allowing him to go on a personal trip from March 20 to May 10, 2025.
