Drug suspect slain after allegedly shooting at cops

AN ALLEGED drug dealer was killed while two others were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Tubigon, Barangay 9-A, on Monday at 1:15 p.m.

Agents of the Special Enforcement Team of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI, along with San Pedro and Talomo police station personnel, killed Hideki Hernando, 27, single, and a resident of Bo. Obrero.

Reportedly, Hernando pulled his .38 revolver and shot the raiding operatives, who were forced to retaliate.

Operatives rushed the suspect to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for medical treatment, but the attending physician was declared dead upon arrival.

Moreover, the PDEA XI said that the operatives also arrested drug den owner Kiet Brian Valenzona and drug den visitor Hezekiah Julian Lim.

During the operation, operatives seized 20 vacuum-sealed bricks with suspected marijuana weighing more or less 1,300 grams with a street value of P156,000, assorted drug paraphernalia, buy-bust marked money and the .38 revolver with live ammunition.

PDEA XI director Aileen Lovitos said that charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) would be filed against Valenzona and Lim.
