The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will strictly enforce “no backride policy” on single motorcycles.
City police director Col. Kirby John Kraft said this is in compliance with the Executive Order 20-A issued earlier by Mayor Sara Duterte.
“If we allow ‘backride’ then we are violating physical distancing,” Kraft said. “This is a crucial time in controlling the COVID-19 or all efforts in quarantine will be futile.”
The city police director advised the public of possible arrest if they will defy the prohibitions of the community quarantine.
For instance, they could be sued for violating Art. 151 or disobedience or resistance, which carries a penalty of less than P100,000 and/or from one to six months jail time. Those who will hurt the arresting officers will face a case of direct assault, and they would be fined for less than P200,000, as well as six-month imprisonment.
Meanwhile, RA 11332 or the “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act” carries a penalty of between P20,000 and P50,000. They could also be thrown in jail from a minimum of one month to a maximum of six months.
