#AmpinganPaniganTamugan Campaign
Davao City’s efforts to safeguard its vital water sources have gained momentum with the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project (DCBWSP) backing the #AmpinganPaniganTamugan (APT) campaign– an initiave supporting the newly approved ordinance that designates the Panigan-Tamugan Watershed as a protected source water area. This effort encourages Dabawenyos to take part in conserving the watershed that supplies over 300 million liters of water daily to homes and businesses across the city.
Following the 20th Davao City Council’s approval of the ordinance on watershed protection, the campaign seeks to raise public awareness and strengthen community efforts to protect the Panigan-Tamugan Watershed. By rallying support from both stakeholders and residents, the initiative highlights the importance of collective action in safeguarding the city’s alternative water source.
The Panigan-Tamugan Watershed is central to Davao City’s long-term strategy for sustainable development and climate resilience. As the main surface water source for DCBWSP, it enables the daily delivery of safe, reliable water to thousands of households, particularly in District 2 who previously had intermittent to no water supply.
Spearheaded by the Davao City Water District (DCWD) and Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc., DCBWSP also stands as a model for environmentally responsible infrastructure. The project uses a run-of-river hydroelectric power plant to operate its facilities, reducing its environmental impact while meeting the city’s growing water needs.

From Awareness to Action: Atong Tubig, Atong Ampingan
Beyond water delivery, the project seeks to spark public involvement in watershed protection.
The #AmpinganPaniganTamugan campaign encourages citizens to take action through:

“Protecting Panigan-Tamugan is a shared responsibility– one that starts with awareness and grows through action,” said Ronnie D. Lim, General Manager of Apo Agua. “Through the APT campaign, we aim to help bring attention to this cause, and we call on every Dabawenyo to stand with us in safeguarding our water source. Every effort, no matter how small, makes a lasting impact.”
