The Davao Occidental Tigers-Cocolife wrapped up their campaign in style winning the 2020-2021 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Chooks-to-Go Lakan Season National title beating the San Juan Knights Go for Gold in their best of five finals series which ended Sunday night, March 21 at the SMBA bubble in Subic.
They only needed five extra minutes to dispose the San Juan Knights Go For Gold, 89-88 in Game 4 for a 3-1 victory in the series that extracted their revenge in last season’s national finals.
Veteran Mark Yee as named best player of the game with 19 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, noting the game-winning 3-point shot at the upper left wing for the upright lead, 89-88 with 8.4 seconds left in overtime.
Earlier, the 39-year old Yee was awarded with the MPBL Chooks-to-Go Defensive Player of the Year Award and a member for the MPBL first team honors. His teammate Billy Ray Robles was handed with the MPBL Chooks-to-Go Sportsmanship Award.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Panginoon sa lahat na ito,” Yee said in an interview.
