Dabawenya is 1st SAWP Scholar nationwide

Davao City – June Grace A. Sarte, a BS Criminology student of Holy Cross of Davao College becomes the first ever scholar under the DOLE SAWP (Social Amelioration and Welfare Program). The scholarship is granted under the 4-Year College Educational Assistance (CEA) of the program for workers in the biofuel industry utilizing coconut as feedstock.

Ms. Sarte will receive a P50,000.00 allowance per year for payment of tuition and other school fees, book allowance and monthly stipend. To continually qualify for the scholarship grant, she shall comply the following: a) maintain a passing grade required in the course enrolled; b) carry a full academic load for each term as prescribed in the curriculum; and c) adhere to the terms and conditions as stipulated in the contract.

Scholar Presented. The SAWP scholar, June Grace Sarte is presented to the workers of Bioenergy 8 Davao Corporation to affirm that DOLE SAWP is really a program helping workers in the biofuel industry.

June Grace A. Sarte, is a daughter of a worker at the Bioenergy 8 Corporation located in Sasa, Davao City. The company produces coconut methyl ester (CME) or coco-biodiesel which is added to diesel (5 to 20%) as fuel enhancer. (By Eduardo P. Monreal, LCO-Designate, DOLE RO XI)
