THE MENTAL Wellness Center for Homeless (MWCH) has successfully treated 98 patients in two years since its inauguration in 2022.
During the Aprubado sa Konseho on April 17, Councilor Richlyn N. Justol-Baguilod said, “It does not only serve as a facility for mentally challenged individuals but also as an outpatient counseling service center.”
MWCH provides a refuge for the homeless dwelling on the streets and supports them by addressing their mental and psychological well-being through various services offered in the facility.
Of the patients treated, 74 have been reintegrated back into their respective families. She said 38 are residents of the city and 36 are from outside.
As of April 1, there are 24 inpatients admitted and 109 outpatients catered at the clinic.
Baguilod reported that MCWH has ongoing coordination with PhilHealth for the Outpatient Benefit Package for mental health covering neurologic and psychological cases.
Davaoeños who need physical counseling are advised to go to MWCH located in SPMC-IPBM Compound, C.M. Recto Street, Poblacion District.
The center was inaugurated last Jan. 21, 2022, with a P26 million budget for its building.

The councilor reminded the public to consider mental health first and seek immediate medical assistance to prevent complications in the future.
Meanwhile, Baguilod passed a resolution during the 20th city council regular session on February 27 requesting the city mayor to sign a memorandum of agreement between the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) -Davao Chapter to carry out their mental health programs in the city.
