City Council waiting on meeting between Apo Agua and Duterte

THE DAVAO City Water District and Apo Agua Infrastractura Inc. have yet to meet with Mayor Sebastian Duterte to discuss the final date of supply distribution.

During the 33rd regular session on Sept. 5, Councilor Louie John Bonguyan, chairperson of the committee on energy and water, said they will wait for the results of the meeting before calling officials of both companies to appear before the City Council.

The companies promised in their reply letter to attend the last session of August or the first week of September.

“With due respect, hulaton sa nako ang outcome sa ilang meeting and after ana, diri na sila sa City Council ( With due respect, I will wait for the outcome of their meeting and after that, they will be invited here at the City Council),” Bonguyan said.

The pending appearance was also due to their request to be given ample time to finalize the dates of the distribution of water supply after months of postponement.

Bonguyan said the council decided to consider their appeal and even extended the distribution until September when it was originally set to start in June or July.

“The last time we talked during the close meeting with the city council, September among hatag… dili sad mag samok- samok ang City council, until such time nga makadecide na sila kanus-a gyud makahatag og tubig (we gave them until September… the city council will not bother, until such time that they can decide when they are going to provide the water),” Bonguyan said. “Let’s wait this month on what is their official reply in the city council,” he added.

He stressed that lawmakers wanted them to be true to their words as there are many barangays in the city that are already affected by the shortage of water supply including Cabantian, Agdao, Panacan, and Sasa.

The councilor is puzzled that Apo Agua cannot supply the water yet when they say everything is already set. The company even invited the councilor to do an ocular inspection to prove that there is already water in the Apo Agua facilities.
