THE CITY College of Davao announced on Monday that it will open 320 slots for the Academic Year 2025-2026 to cater to Dabawenyo students who wish to proceed to the tertiary level.
Jamaico Magayo, vice president for administration, said the number is limited considering the capacity of the temporary school campus.
“For now, we have to limit the slots to 320, considering the capacity of the campus, as there are already 620 students at present,” Magayo said.
He added that the new campus, which is eyed to be constructed in Bago Oshiro, is in the pipeline as the site development plan was just recently approved.
In the meantime, the campus is temporarily located at Catalunan Pequeno, which has a maximum capacity of 1000 students.
“We have to follow a process so after the clearing of the area in Bago Oshiro, which will start anytime this year, we can proceed with the land development,” he added.
The City College of Davao offers courses like the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education; Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship; Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education Major in Computer Programming; and Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education Education Major in Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology.
Magayo said that upon completion of the new site, the college will offer additional courses to cater to more students.
Since the slots are limited to 320, students are required to submit their latest Grade 12 report card, as the general weighted average will be used as the basis for ranking.
Every student will have to complete a registration link for early enrollment to secure a slot for readiness assessment to test the readiness of the student. However, Magayo stressed this is not an admission test.
The registration link for the assessment will be accessible from April 14 to 23 through the college’s Facebook page.
Requirements for the applicants include a completed application for admission form, PSA Birth certificate, recent senior high report card, or an ALS certificate for ALS graduates.
On the other hand, requiring a certificate of low income from the barangay and other proof of low income are waived unless they already secured a slot.
This is the college’s response to complaints of students where they were required to submit documentary requirements but were not able to secure a slot.
Members of indigenous peoples community will be prioritized provided they present a Certificate of Belonging to Indigenous Peoples Group.
The college is free of charges such as school fees and tuition as it is fully subsidized by the city government.
