  • Senator to launch probe into ICC investigator’s alleged pressures on retired cops

 

REELECTED Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is set to launch a Senate inquiry into alleged harassment of retired police officers by visiting investigators from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Dela Rosa revealed that the ICC has an ongoing mission in a hotel in Pasay City where they are forcing the retired officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to sign an affidavit to incriminate him and former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“We will conduct a hearing at we will hold accountable these people and Filipinos who betray our sovereignty,” the Mindanaoan senator said.

Dela Rosa made the revelation when asked about President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s remark that he is open to reconciling with the Duterte family.

“If he’s really sincere with his words, first is he must kick out the ICC investigator’s who are now in a Pasay hotel threatening our retired police officers to sign an affidavit to implicate me and President Duterte,” he said, adding that the officers were

The senator said that the summoned officers were threatened to be charged if they don’t cooperate.

“We know the people behind the move to summon the police officers,” he added. “Our police are already miserable. The PNP should take care of its people.”

He said the PNP leadership and the administration should consider the service they rendered and not only render them powerless just because they retired.

Dela Rosa said these developments run in contrast with the Marcos administration’s statements about not recognizing the jurisdiction of the ICC.

“There’s no sincerity. The first thing President Marcos should do is to deport these ICC investigators who are now harassing our police officers to testify. That is what he should do if he’s sincere with the reconcialition he hopes for,” he ended.

The former top cop shared that the investigation will begin once the 20th Congress opens in July.
