Army recovers high-powered firearms, landmine in Bukidnon, foiling CTG remnants

THE 89TH Infantry (Makatao) Battalion, under the 10th Infantry Division successfully recovered two high-powered firearms and an anti-personnel landmine as a result of a precision intelligence operation conducted in Barangay Nacabuklad, San Fernando, Bukidnon.

The operation, launched on the evening of May 21, 2025, was based on actionable intelligence gathered under Target Packet “Hinagiban” 01-2025.

The Intelligence Platoon located and recovered the war materiel buried in Sitio Supon, Nacabuklad. The recovered items include an AK-47 rifle, M1 Garand rifle, and an improvised landmine.

The cache was traced to former members of DGF Malaya, SRC2, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC), who had previously surrendered to government forces. According to intelligence reports, these individuals had escaped from their armed group in 2019 and initially entrusted the firearms and explosives to contacts for safekeeping.

However, fearing future reprisals or prosecution, the items were eventually buried in a remote area within the barangay.

A former CTG member gave the military the exact location of the cache, which was turned over to the 89IB in Sitio Malantao, Barangay Halapitan, San Fernando, for proper documentation and disposition.

Lieutenant Colonel Antonio G. Bulao I, commanding officer of 89IB, commended the troops for their swift action and praised the crucial collaboration between the Army and local residents.

“This operation reflects the power of good intelligence, community cooperation, and the dedication of our soldiers,” said Bulao. “The recovery of these deadly instruments will prevent their use against innocent civilians and our security forces. We continue to urge the remaining CTG members to surrender and avail of the government’s reintegration programs.”
