We congratulate neighbor Datu Pagdatua Demetrio B. Bolo, Sr. at our rural residence in Biao Escuela for his appointment as the new Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) at the Davao City Council.
Bolo, Sr., a member of the Bagobo-Klata tribe, took his oath of office before the National Commission of the Indigenous Peoples (NCIP). We know he is well-loved and highly respected by the people in his community. We are certain that he will live up to the expectation of the many Lumad tribes in Davao City.
Again Congratulations Datu Pagdatua! More Power and make your ka-tribu proud.

Perhaps, this is the first time in the history of the police organization in The Hague, Netherlands. That is, that they have to resort to installing barricades at the vicinity of the detention Center of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for fear that Filipinos holding supposedly solidarity rallies for former President Rodrigo R. Duterte may break through restricted area around the jail where the former Filipino leader is currently detained.
No, it is not true that former Presidential spokesman Harry Roque gave them the advice on how to handle Filipino protesters. In fact based on the pictures, it seems The Hague police have better barrier materials than Filipino policemen have.
In all likelihood too, another new experience for no less than the ICC judges, especially the ones tasked to try the former Philippine leader is their getting bashed by netizens clearly identified supportive of the detained former President.
We can only hope that this kind of behavior of the Filipinos will not get the goat out of the ICC judges. Their demeanor may not be helping the cause of the man they are seeking to be absolved of his alleged crimes committed to his fellow Filipinos.

What is this report we heard about the Team Al-ag conducting some kind of a medical mission in Biao Escuela, Tugbok district some three days ago? We were also told that there were only a handful who attended the said activity.
Considering that it was a medical mission that, without doubt, included doling out of non-prescription medicines, it was a little bit surprising to know that only a few took advantage. In fact anyone who could have attended the activity would not be denied the dole-out medicines even if they are known supporters of the other leading candidates.
We can however, sense that the reason for the insignificant attendees is that there was no massive information dissemination on that Biao Escuela medical activity. Massively informing the public about it may be in violation of the election code. It was still four days earlier before the start of the official campaign period for local elective positions.

One measure being considered by the rabid supporters of former President Duterte in their efforts to have him released by the ICC is the plan to call the many Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) around the world to stop for at least a week their remittances back to the Philippines.
Indeed this one is a new idea thought of only during this time of protesting the arrest of the former Philippine leader on orders of the ICC. But will the proponents succeed in convincing the OFWs not to remit part of their pay to the Philippines.
Assuming that they’ll be goaded to by some sweet talking advocates, who do you think will suffer the most? Is it the government, or is it the families left in the country by the OFWs?
Now, who ever thought of this scheme possibly never had any experience of being dependent of a family member’s remittance for their upkeep.
Meanwhile, will a one week sans OFW’s remittances be enough to cripple the operation of the national government? Will not the purveyors of such an idea be liable of sabotaging the Philippine economy? What then is the appropriate punishment for people guilty of such a crime?

How is Congresswoman Migz Nograles faring in her campaigning during the past few days before the start of the official period mandated by law?
In an earlier column we wrote about the deafening silence of the Nograles sibling. Migz is running against Incumbent Polong Duterte of Davao City’s first district. Brother Karlo is contesting the mayor’s position with former President Rody Duterte currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands.
Will PBA’s Migz be able to recapture the first district which for years, a known turf of the Nograleses?
For now we really have no idea how Migz fare with incumbent Polong’s ways of running his campaign for reelection. We can only hope that she can rightly claim she is indeed a daughter of her father, the late House Speaker Prospero “Boy” Nograles.
