In a press conference at Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City the other Day, former President Rodrigo R. Duterte told media people that there is a “fracture” in the government of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. He added that it cannot be remedied. There is no relief inside. Only the military can correct it.
How? He said he does not know. The former President added that “the military are the protectors of the Constitution. It is up to them.”
Earlier, VP Sara claimed that there is so much corruption in the government. She wondered whether the chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines can still sleep knowing of the prevailing situation in the country.
Looks like the thoughts of the father and daughter are parallel to each other. Could they possibly entice the military to do what they could be driving at? Assuming that the two will be able to convince the military to do their bidding, will the Luzon and Visayas-based soldiers and their commanders follow blindly whoever is on top?
Considering the ethnic characteristics of our soldiers we wonder if they will stand as one with whoever take the lead in their rise against the government. And if that happens God bless the Philippines and the Filipinos.
We also have no way of knowing how those who prod the military to do such cataclysmic action will grapple with their conscience knowing that their words were the main assurance of the soldiers in adopting such move which they believe will save the nation from damnation.

If there is one statement of incumbent Davao City Mayor and now Vice Mayoralty candidate for Davao City Baste Duterte that we will strongly support it is his backing of the plan to nix the acquisition of business permit by delivery riders for them to continue with their services to the buying public.
Yes, while the delivery riders are responding to the needs of customers who would rather stay at home and wait for their bought merchandise, more specifically ready-to-eat food items, they do more for the enhancement of the business of the merchandise sellers. In other words, the seller establishments are getting brisk business even without their customers physically present in the shops So, the delivery drivers are merely helping the seller establishments augment their sales income. At the same time they satisfy the needs of the customer-buyers without them going out of their homes and spending more for transportation expenses and cost of other items or services related to the trip out of the house.
Of course if the city is really bent on deriving income from the delivery riders, perhaps it can look into slapping some kind of tax on the delivery riders’ income which they can easily collect through the financial books of the business establishment utilizing delivery riders in marketing their wares.
Perhaps it is on this aspect that the city may be able to get a take from the delivery riders without depletting too much from their minute income earned with so much risks on the road.

It is really the problem with some lawyers. They say this thing and denies the statement or simply dodge when thrown with so many negative comments or reaction. Say, in the case of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, In a statement late last week she said that she has already sought the services of one person who would kill the President, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez should she be lost (missing) or get killed. The latter few words serve as premise for the execution of her plan by the one she hired to do the elimination of the three people in the Marcos government.
When the reactions became disdainful, the VP immediately denied her statement was a threat to the President, his wife and Speaker Mar.
As always the denial was couched in the so-called “maliciously taken out of logical context.” There is no doubt that the VP studied very well her statement so that in the event it would generate negative reactions she has a ready way out. Therefore, it is our take that easily she could wiggle out of the supposed threat she made.
Unfortunately, there are a much bigger number of non-legal minds among the Filipinos. Hence, chances are, her statement could be interpreted in its literal meaning within the purview of the prevailing situation in the country these days. And while the VP may be able to dodge any possible legal action emanating from her supposed “threat” she could have created enough basis for potential legal action when she named the President, the First Lady, and the Speaker as the ones to be killed by her hired assassin should she be missing or killed.
The VP’s naming of the three is directly pointing to them as the suspects to whatever happens to her.
