CHO to conduct school-based immunization program in public schools

THE CITY Health Office will spearhead a school-based immunization program to target more than 200 public schools in Davao City from October to November.

The program aims to provide students in grades 1, 4, and 7 with vaccines to protect them against diseases and sustain their immunity level.

The vaccines would be for measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, and other diseases.

The program will target more than 80,000 public school students, said CHO Technical Division chief Dr. Julinda Acosta.

Acosta hopes to reach the target percentage of 100% of all children enrolled at public schools to be vaccinated with ongoing activities on health education and parents’ orientation conducted in communities.

“So far, ang atoang vaccines enough man siya para ma implement nato 100%,” she said during the iSpeak media forum.

She also urged parents to give their consent in order for their children to be vaccinated.

The school-based immunization program will kick off on Oct. 7 at the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Central Elementary School.
