Aluna Margaux Uy Labrador delivered a gold and two bronze medals for Tagum City in her first Batang Pinoy gymnastics appearance on Monday, December 18 at the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) Center in Intramuros.
The Labrador, Hollie Bautista and Alessa Reeze Solis trio scored a total of 44.150 for Tagum City to secure the 11-12 yearly High Performance 3 (HP3) women’s artistic gymnastics team event gold medal over Cebu City which scored 41.150 for a silver finish.
Labrador arrayed her smooth repertoire and graceful flicks to single-handedly carry the team with a staggering 8.950 points in the vault; 4.750 in single bar; 6.250 in balance beam; and 8.250 in floor apparatuses.
Bautista scored 4.250 in vault, 0.000 in single bar, 2.2100 in balance beam and 1.525 in floor while Solis had 3.900 in vault, 0.000 in single bar; 1.600 in balance beam and 2.575 in floor.
Labrador, meanwhile, scored an impressive 8.25 to join the elite club in the 11-12 year old floor exercise event of the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) class, closely trailing veterans Maria Celina Gonzales of San Juan (8.75), and Tchelzy Mei Maayo of Taguig (8.45), who won the gold and silver, respectively.
She found herself in a similar position with a 28.2 performance behind Gonzales (34.7), and Maayo (32.0) in the individual all-around event participated by around 37 gymnasts from all over the country.
With her elite performance, the 11 years old Labrador was not only poised to rank third in the individual all-around (IAA) HP3 for 11-12 years old age group ranking in the Philippines but has written history for providing Palm City’s first gymnastics medal in the national sports conclave the organized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and officially sanctioned by GAP.
Perhaps, Labrador is now ranked number 1 in Visayas-Mindanao after finishing with flying colors.
