Sisterhood pacts eyed with 3 Argentinian cities

THE city government is looking at establishing three sisterhood agreements with three cities of Argentina.

The idea came about after Argentinian Ambassador to the Philippines Ricardo Luis Bocalandro made a courtesy call on Mayor Sebastian Duterte last week.

The two discussed the possible signing of sisterhood agreements between the city and the cities of Rosario, Mendoza, and Cordoba.

“Our shared goal of mutual trust and linking with other countries for partnership in whatever possible aspect is one key to our city’s further growth,” Duterte said.

Mendoza is a city popular among wine connoisseurs since the whole region is the largest wine producer in the country. Tourists usually go on wine testing in the city.

Rosario and Cordoba, on the other hand can become partners in tourism and education, respectively as Cordoba is known for its universities.

The two officials also discussed possible collaboration in information technology and machinery.

Accompanied by wife Maria Elena Urriste, Bocalandro was in the city between November 9 and 11 for the Innovation Summit.

The two countries established their diplomatic relations in 1948.
