6 nabbed in drug ops

Six alleged drug peddlers were arrested in three separate buy-bust operations conducted in different areas in the region on Friday

Major Jason Baria, the spokesperson of Police Regional Office 11, identified the suspects as Mario Sacro Canonigo, 26, of Prk Ciola, Brgy. Goma, Digos City, Davao del Sur; Elmer Labio Payo, 37, of Purok 2-B, Barangay La Filipina, Tagum City, Davao del Norte; Jimon Calamba Alibiado, 35, and Lharry Delima Sumaya, 27, both of Brgy San Jose, Maco, Compostela Valley; Nelbert Sayong Elejorde, 30, of La Suerte, Brgy Binuangan, Maco; and Hernando Acaso Barba, 33 of Prk 1-B, Brgy Apokon, Tagum City.

Baria said the first operation at 6:50 p.m. resulted to the arrest of Canonigo, alias Boss, a laborer in Digos City. The suspect is categorized as a Street Level Target (SLT).

The drug enforcement unit (DEU) of Davao del Sur Police provincial office and the Digos City police station conducted the operation in coordination with PDEA in Luna Street, Jose Abad Santos, Brgy. Zone 3, Digos City.

Operatives recovered seven sachets of shabu, estimated to be worth P6,000.

In Tagum City at 9:20 p.m., the DEU of Tagum City Police conducted an operation in Andrada Apartment, Porok Durian, Brgy Mankilam, Tagum City with the coordination of the PDEA.

It resulted to the arrest of Payo, Alibiado, and Sumaya.

The team was able to buy 10 sachets of shabu worth 14,000. They also confiscated three sachets of shabu, deformed test tube, test tube, three aluminum strips, two disposable lighters, a bamboo clip with weighing scale and the buy-bust money.

The operatives recovered various parts of undetermined firearm and some improvised power tools believed to be used for repairing firearm in one of the tables inside the apartment.

Also in Tagum City, at 11:30 p.m., the DEU of Tagum City Police Station conducted another PDEA-coordinated operation in Sison Subdivision, Brgy Magugpo South, Tagum City.

The operation resulted to the arrest of Elejorde and Barba.

The team confiscated two sachets of shabu, P5,000 money, and drug paraphernalia.

Brig. Gen. Marcelo Morales said, “The suspects have been monitored by our intel operatives for the past several weeks peddling illegal drugs in their respective areas.”
