317 students qualify for STEP

THE Educational Benefit System Unit (EBSU) announced last week that 317 applicants qualified as beneficiaries of the Scholarship on Tertiary Education Program (STEP).

Emilio Domingo Jr., EBSU technical assistant, said that they were among the  2,300 applicants as they were selected based on grades and economic status.

“Kanang 2,300 nga mga applicants qualified gyud na pero ang ato gyud nga ginapangita is ang most qualified sa ilahang tanan kay tungod sa limited lang man ang slots nato, sa akong gisulti nga 317 lang gyud ang slots nga available so mao na siya almost 2,000 pud ang wala nakapasok,” he said.

These new scholars are set to undergo orientation as Mayor SEbastian Duterte already congratulated them during the flag raising ceremony on Monday.

Duterte  urged the students to do their best so they could maintain their scholarship status.

“Congratulations sa nakapasar sa atoang scholarship program, unta ayuhon ninyo unya ampingan ninyo ang inyuhang mga grado para dili mo matanggal pud, unya unta makatiwas gyud mo gamit ang atoang STEP program,” the mayor said.

The EBSU recently became a recipient of 2,000 units of pocket wifi donations from Smart Communications which will be distributed among the scholars.

“For the month of September, we plan to distribute it to our new and old scholars, almost 2,000 all in all,” Domingo said.
