3 soldiers wounded in clash with ASG

THE military reported that three soldiers of 100th Infantry Battalion of Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu were wounded during an encounter with members of the Abu Sayyaf Group in Barangay Tumatangis in Indanan, Sulu on Sunday.

Although the soldiers were not identified, the report said they were in stable condition at a local hospital.

Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio, commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu and 11th Infantry Division, said the encounter took place after the soldiers were informed of the rpesence of the ASG near the community.

Patrimonio said the encounter lasted for about 30 minutes as the ASG members immediately left the place.

“Of the 3 wounded-in-action soldiers, one has been evacuated to Camp Navarro in Zamboanga City while the two are in Camp Bautista Station Hospital. They are all in stable condition,” he added. 

Col. Giovanni Franza, commander of 1102nd Infantry Brigade, said the unit deployed to block the escape routes of the armed groups even recovered  sack of rice, four liters gallon of water, kitchen utensils, and personal belongings.
