MAJOR GEN Donald M. Gumiran, commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, awarded 2Lt. Kent Carreon and Cpl Kevin Galanza of the 33rd Infantry Battalion with the Wounded Personnel Medal on May 16, 2025.
Carreon and Galanza were wounded in action during an armed attack by armed individuals along the road in Barangay Kuloy, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur, while conducting visibility patrol as part of their election duties.
The medals were awarded to them at Camp Siongco Station Hospital while undergoing medical treatment for their fast recovery.
The activity underscored the unwavering commitment of soldiers who exemplified true dedication while performing their election duties amidst the challenging political dynamics in the region.
